Sub Tuum Praesidium

We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; Despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

CP Yes, You Should Get Your Rosary Blessed—Here's How It Happens!

Your rosary is a weapon, so why not have it blessed?

Can. 1166 of the Code of Canon Law states,

“Sacramentals are sacred signs by which effects, especially spiritual effects, are signified in some imitation of the sacraments and are obtained through the intercession of the Church.”

When a priest blesses a rosary, it becomes set apart as a sacramental object for the service of God.

During the blessing, a priest may pray:

"Through the prayers and glory of Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, in remembrance of the mysteries of the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, let these beads of the most holy Rosary be blessed and hallowed."

Typically, the priest will then sprinkle holy water on the rosary.

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
O Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Walsingham, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother, look down in mercy upon us, our parish, our country, our homes, and our families, and upon all who greatly hope and trust in thy prayers. By thee it was that Jesus, our Saviour and hope, was given to the world; and He has given thee to us that we may hope still more. Plead for us your children, whom thou didst receive and accept at the foot of the Cross, O sorrowful Mother. Intercede for our separated brethren, that with us in the one true fold they may be united to the Chief Shepherd, the Vicar of thy Son. Pray for us all, dear Mother, that by faith, fruitful in good works, we all may be made worthy to see and praise God, together with thee in our heavenly home. Amen.
