Jenny Holland | I prayed the Rosary every day for a year
Today is the 365th consecutive day that I prayed the Rosary.

My Rosary habit started in 2024, as I wrote about at the time. Throughout 2024, I prayed intermittently. At the start of 2025, however, in the dark, cold mornings of January, it became a daily habit.
I did not set out to achieve a year long stretch. It was more a matter of taking each day as it came, and one day lead on to the next, with the Rosary included every dark morning.
...
The weeks past, and the mornings became lighter. Some days, my prayers were carried out amidst distraction. Thoughts of work, of chores, of money or lack thereof, of my full life, interrupting as I repeated the words, ‘hail Mary full of grace.’ Not every day was I giving my full focus to the mother of God, but I tried not to let perfection be the enemy of the good. I kept going.
...
As far as I can tell — although as a mere human I am full of blind spots, as we all are — I received all of those things during my yearlong practice of devotion.
I am no theologian, but I am certain of this. Of all the stories of creation that have given meaning to humans since time immemorial, there is no better story than the one written in the Bible. There is no better metaphor to describe the human condition than the story of Mary and her son, Jesus. The simple, the ordinary, the quotidian love of a mother for her child is also the most extraordinary, most sacrificial, and the most transcendent.
