The Golden Mass in Honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The ancient (8th Century) Missa Aurea (Golden Mass), also known as Missa Angelica, in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is offered in patrimonial English at 7am on the Saturdays of Advent by candlelight at Saint John Henry Newman Catholic Church, 849 Old Esquimalt Road (Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish). Rosary and Benediction.
"Rorate caeli" or "Rorate coeli" ('Drop down, ye heavens') are the opening words of Isaiah 45:8 in the Latin Vulgate. The text appears at several points in the Christian liturgy of the Western Church during Advent.
